Inspired by George S. Patton, this print highlights one of his famous quotes written out within the shape of a soldier.
How is this print made?
I first start with a swatch of ink rolled out onto a large sheet of textured paper, this is the base layer for everything to sit on. I then I drew a large version of the soldier, tracing around it creating a stencil or mask to work inside of. Next I roughly plot out where I want each of the letters to sit using pencil. Once I figure out the layout I start using ink to outline them. Using multiple sheets of tracing paper I am able adjust, make mistakes, and then correct them on the next layer. Once all of these elements are complete I scan them and then group them all together.

I’ve been working hard on a new series of prints. Mainly typographic based, this new set of work is inspired by the unplanned and incidental thoughts that roam through ones mind during the course of a day. I tried to find words and phrases that would inspire and motivate. Hope you enjoy!
